Alabama vs. Georgia results: Bryce Young leads Crimson Tide to SEC title, blowout win over No. 1 Bulldogs - Sporting News

sisilihya.blogspot.com

Now that is a Heisman moment.

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young had not one, but several Heisman Trophy-worthy moments on Saturday as he passed for 421 yards and three touchdowns — rushing for another score and 40 more yards — against the No. 1 defense in the country. The performance led No. 3 Alabama to a commanding 41-24 win against No. 1 Georgia, winning the SEC championship and punching the Crimson Tide's ticket to the College Football Playoff.

BENDER: 'Underdog' Alabama, Bryce Young puts on show

Georgia (12-1) got off to a hot start, scoring 10 unanswered points before the Crimson Tide appeared on the scoreboard. But once Alabama (12-1) started scoring, it didn't stop. Young hit Jameson Williams for a 67-yard touchdown on the third play of its first drive in the second quarter. The next drive, Young found John Metchie for a 13-yard touchdown with 9:53 left in the second quarter to bring the game to a 14-10 game. After a field goal the next drive, Alabama added another touchdown on an 11-yard scramble by Young to put the Crimson Tide up 24-17 at the half.

Alabama started the scoring in the third quarter with a five-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a 55-yard touchdown pass to Williams to make it a two-score Alabama lead. The two sides remained quiet until the fourth quarter, when Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett was intercepted by Jordan Battle, who returned the ball 42 yards for a touchdown to bring the Crimson Tide advantage to 38-17. Georgia responded with one final score, a touchdown from Bennett to Bowers, but Alabama added a field goal late to cap the scoring.

MORE: How to watch final CFP selection show

Now, both teams wait for noon on Sunday to see how the CFP committee evaluated the two sides. Will Alabama be the new No. 1? Is a three-score loss enough to boot Georgia from the picture, or will they be as high as No. 2 or 3? Those are questions that await a resolution, and still hinge on the Big Ten Championship.
