Monday's finals races might not feature the big names of Katie Ledecky and Ariarne Titmus, but there will undoubtedly be some serious talent put on display.
The swimmers in both the men's and women's 100-meter backstrokes will be fighting for medals, with the women's fielded loaded with talent in Olympic record-holder Regan Smith (USA), world record-holder Kaylee McKeown (Australia) and Canadian record-holder Kylie Masse, who beat McKeown in the second semifinal of the race on Sunday. American and world record-holder Ryan Murphy will look to hold off Russia's Kliment Kolsnikov for the gold medal in the 100 backstroke.
Two American stars, world record-holder Lilly King and 17-year-old Alaskan Lydia Jacoby, will fight in a close field with South African Tatjana Schoenmaker and Swedish record-holder Sophie Hansson in the 100 breaststroke finals. In the men's 200 freestyle, American Kieran Smith will hope to topple Great Britain's Duncan Scott in the 200 freestyle and stay ahead of Lithuania's Danas Rapsys following a tightly contested semifinal.
Swimming fans will also have another chance to watch Ledecky and Titmus compete on Monday in the 200 freestyle semifinals, though they will swim from different heats: Titmus swims in the first semifinal against Canadian Penny Oleksiak, while Ledecky swims in the second. The two will match up again Tuesday night for the finals event in what will be the latest chapter of the two swimmers' rivalry after Titmus won Sunday night in the 400 freestyle.

11:13 p.m.: Kate Douglass had the top time in the heats in the race. She's hoping to make it two Americans in the final.
Women's 200 individual medley (semifinal 1)
11:09 p.m.: Walsh has the top time at 2:09.57 with Yiting second at 2:09.72 and Yui in third at 2:09.79. Canada's Sydney Pickrem is fourth at 2:09.94 and Hosszu was fifth at 2:10.22.
11:08 p.m.: Walsh wins the heat with Yiting in second and Japan's Ohashi Yui finishing third.
11:07 p.m.: Walsh takes the advantage heading into breaststroke. She's taking a comfortable lead halfway through the lane.
11:07 p.m.: China's Yu Yiting leads after the first 50, but Walsh is right behind her.
11:05 p.m.: American Alex Walsh racing against world and Olympic record-holder, Hungarian Katinka Hosszu in the first semifinal.
Men's 200 butterfly (semifinal 2)
10:52 p.m.: American Gunnar Bentz (1:55.28 in the second heat) qualifies for the final. Teammate Zach Harting comes up just short of qualifying for the race.
10:51 p.m.: Milak doesn't set the world record or Olympic record, but comes close with a time of 1:52.22. de Deus was second at 1:54.97 and Burdisso is third at 1:55.11.
10:49 p.m.: It is, unsurprisingly, Milak who wins the heat. Brazil's Leonardo de Deus places second and Italy's Federio Burdisso.
10:49 p.m.: Milak is close to world record pace. He owns the record time at 1:50.73, and could top Michael Phelps' Olympic record at 1:52.03.
10:48 p.m.: Through the first 50, Hungary's Kristof Milak is leading.
Men's 200 butterfly (semifinal 1)
10:44 p.m.: Final times: le Clos at 1:55.06, Hungary's Tamas Kenderesi at 1:55.17 and Japan's Honda Tomoru at 1:55.31. America's Zach Harting placed fourht at 1:55.35.
10:43 p.m.: Le Clos, who won the 200 butterfly in the 2012 London Olympics, won the semifinal race here to clinch his spot in the final.
10:42 p.m.: South Africa's Chad le Clos is leading after the first 100 despite swimming from the eighth lane.
10:41 p.m.: Time for the first heat of the 200 butterfly.
Women's 100 breaststroke (final)
10:25 p.m.: Jacoby's time of 1:04.95 nets her the gold. Schoenmaker finished second at 1:05.22 and King is third at 1:05.54.
10:23 p.m.: 17-year-old Alaskan Lydia Jacoby is the Olympic gold medalist in the 100 breaststroke. She finished the swim incredibly strong to pass Schoenmaker, who placed second, and King, who finished third.
10:22 p.m.: Schoenmaker has the lead over King at the end of the first 50.
10:22 p.m.: And they're off.
10:20 p.m.: Lilly King is the world and Olympic record-holder in the 100 breaststroke, but South Africa's Tatjana Schoenmaker comes in with the slightly faster semifinal time.
Men's 100 backstroke (final)
10:05 p.m.: Rylov (51.98) and Kolesnikov (52.00) take the top two spots. Murphy at 52.19 finishes third.
10:03 p.m.: Two Russians place ahead of Murphy to unseat the reigning champion. Evgeny Rylov wins the gold and Kliment Kolesnikov takes the silver. Murphy will take home the bronze medal.
10:03 p.m.: Kliment Kolesnikov leads after the first 50.
9:58 p.m.: Ryan Murphy is the world and Olympic record-holder in the 100 backstroke. He's looking for a shot at a second straight gold in this race.
Women's 100 backstroke (final)
9:56 p.m.: The new Olympic record is 57.47 from McKeown. Masse's time of 57.72 had her just behind McKeown and Smith at 58.05 was also just split-seconds off from the leader. White was fourth at 58.43.
9:55 p.m.: Australian's Kaylee McKeown now holds both the Olympic and world records. Masse takes the silver and Smith comes away with the bronze.
9:53 p.m.: After the first 50, Kylie Masse is leading with Rhyan White in second.
9:52 p.m.: This is a loaded field. Who will take home the gold?
Men's 200 freestyle (final)
9:50 p.m.: Dean finishes at 1:44.22, Scott placed second at 1:44.26 and Scheffer was third at 1:44.66. Smith placed sixth with a time of 1:45.12.
9:48 p.m.: Great Britain with the top two places. Tom Dean wins the gold medal and Duncan Scott wins the silver. Brazil's Fernando Scheffer takes the bronze.
9:47 p.m.: Hwang Sunwoo (South Korea) has been leading after the first 50 and 100.
9:45 p.m.: All eyes on American Kieran Smith, who will hope to give the U.S. a gold medal in the 200 freestyle in what figures to be a tough race with Great Britain's Duncan Scott.
Women's 200 freestyle (semifinal 2)
9:44 p.m.: Titmus' time makes her the top seed heading into tomorrow's 200 freestyle final. Ledecky is the third seed and Oleksiak is sixth. McIntosh and Schmitt just miss the cut.
9:42 p.m.: The time posted by Ledecky: 1:55.34. Seemanova finished at 1:56.14 and Pellegrini was at 1:56.44. Canada's Summer McIntosh was fifth at 1:56.82.
9:41 p.m.: Ledecky takes the top spot in the second semifinal. Seemanova is second and Italian Federica Pellegrini is third.
9:40 p.m.: Ledecky is now the leader over Seemanova.
9:39 p.m.: Ledecky is second behind Czech Republic's Barbora Seemanova with Canada's Summer McIntosh in third.
9:38 p.m.: Katie Ledecky posted the top time in the 200 free in the heats at 1:55.28. She's up now in the semifinal.
Women's 200 freestyle (semifinal 1)
9:36 p.m.: Titmus finishes at 1:54.82 for the first spot, with Haughey in second at 1:55.16 and China's Yang Junxuan is third at 1:55.98. Oleksiak is fourth at 1:56.39 and American Allison Schmitt is fifth at 1:56.87.
9:35 p.m.: Titmus powers through the final stretch to win the heat.
9:34 p.m.: Hong Kong's Siobhan Haughey takes the lead after the 100, but Titmus looks like she's gaining near the 150.
9:33 p.m.: Canada's Penny Oleksiak is the leader after the first 50.
9:32 p.m.: Ariarne Titmus is back in the pool, this time swimming the 200 freestyle. Will she punch her ticket to the final?
Olympics swimming schedule 2021
With the exception of July 31, each day will begin with heats starting at 6 a.m. ET and will end with finals races starting up at 9:30 p.m. ET each day. The USA Network will carry the heats in the United States and NBC will have the finals, while CBC will provide coverage of both events in Canada.
Those in the United States hoping to see replays of the qualifying heats can tune into NBC every afternoon to see how swimmers performed earlier in the morning.
