Here are the unofficial results of New Jersey primary elections held on Tuesday, June 8, including the four-way Republican contest for Governor and bids for state Senate and Assembly nominations.

The outcome of the primary elections will determine which candidates will represent the two major political parties in the November general election.

The results below, compiled by the Associated Press, will be updated throughout the night, so please check back later or refresh the page to see the latest tallies.

The numbers will be updated overnight and during the upcoming days as mail-in ballots and provisional ballots are counted.

N.J. GOVERNOR’S RACE RESULTS

In the Democratic primary, Gov. Phil Murphy is running unopposed in his bid for his party’s nomination. Because it’s an uncontested race, the vote totals will not be compiled in the chart below.

On the Republican side, four candidates are seeking their party’s nomination in hopes of stopping Murphy from winning a second four-year term: Former state Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, former Franklin Township Mayor Brian Levine, pastor Phil Rizzo and engineer Hirsh Singh.

N.J. SENATE RESULTS

One state Senate seat is up for grabs in all 40 legislative districts across New Jersey this year, but candidates in most districts ran unopposed for their party’s nomination in Tuesday’s primary election.

Only districts with contested primary races are listed below.

The hottest race is for the Democratic state Senate nomination to succeed retiring Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, a veteran Democrat, in Bergen County’s 37th District. Competing in the party’s primary are Weinberg’s two longtime district mates, Assembly members Gordon Johnson and Valerie Vainieri Huttle.

Another notable Senate race Tuesday is the Democratic primary in the 20th legislative district in Union County, where two candidates — including Assemblyman Jamel Holley — are challenging incumbent Sen. Joseph Cryan for the party’s backing.

N.J. ASSEMBLY RESULTS

Two Assembly seats are up for grabs in all 40 legislative districts across New Jersey this year, but candidates in most districts ran unopposed in Tuesday’s primary election.

One big exception is the 20th District Assembly race, which has six Democratic candidates competing for two nominations. Several districts have four candidates from the same political party vying for two Assembly nominations.

Another notable Assembly race is in Monmouth County’s 13th District, where Republican Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso is running for a third term despite losing the party’s support to Holmdel school board president Vicki Flynn.

In North Jersey’s 26th District, Republican Assemblywoman BettyLou DeCroce is running without the support of the party in Morris County, while Republican Assemblyman Jay Webber is running without party support in Passaic and Essex counties.

They are running against union official Christian Barranco and Thomas Mastrangelo. Whoever wins the primary is likely to take the seat in November because the district is deeply red.
