NYS primaries: Balter holds lead over Conole: Tuesday was primary day in New York state, but final results of most elections won’t be known for weeks because so many voters opted to use absentee ballots. In the Democratic primary for the 24th Congressional District, Dana Balter held a commanding lead over Francis Conole.

Director of nonprofit resigns over party approval: Gregorio Jimenez, the executive director of the nonprofit Near Westside Initiative, has resigned. The group approved a party to be held on its property in Syracuse that ended with a shooting injuring 9 people, one critically.

County OKs energy tax: Onondaga County lawmakers on Tuesday approved a new residential energy tax that will cost a typical household about $6 per month and raise up to $12 million a year for county government. County Executive Ryan McMahon proposed reimposing the tax on households to help deal with a projected $100 million budget deficit expected this year.
