FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) -- Fort Wayne police continue to investigate what lead to the shooting that left two men dead and one woman injured Sunday night.

Autopsies for the men took several hours Monday afternoon, so we do not expect to learn their names or any other information from the coroner's office until Tuesday.

Two men died after a struggle over a handgun, police say. A woman was wounded by a bullet.

"It was a shock when I got here and the whole street was blocked off. And they said there was some shots and some people had died. And I was like wow," said next door neighbor Heather Zimmerman.

But what neighbors told Zimmerman next really shook her.

"They said it was coming from the trailer next door and they weren't for sure exactly what was going on -- that the guy wasn't even home. I just kept thinking what if the bullets could have come through the trailers, but I wasn't home so that's a good thing," she said.

Fort Wayne police continue to guard the crime scene at the Wells Street Mobile Home Park.

Detectives say Sunday night, a woman and her boyfriend visited the mobile home park across Wells Street from the Allen County Juvenile Center.

Police say the man who lives in unit 11 was around the corner, so the boyfriend went inside while the woman waited outside and was approached by another man.

Detectives say after the suspect and woman exchanged words, she went into the trailer and he followed her and confronted her boyfriend.

They say the suspect shot the woman and her boyfriend and that as the two men struggled over the gun, the suspect was shot.

The boyfriend died at the scene, the suspect died on the way to the hospital.

Investigators were able to talk to the woman at the scene before paramedics took her to the hospital in non-life threatening condition, but say she wasn't able to provide many details.

"A lot of times we'll get a good portion of the info but we won't get all of it. And a lot of times the things that are omitted intially can help us put pieces together," said FWPD Sgt. Jeremy Webb.

Neighbor Bethany Nolt says the crime hit too close to home.

"Honestly I want to live somewhere else and I really do not feel safe here," Nolt said.

Police say while this may appear on the surface to be an open and shut case with no suspect to prosecute, there are loose ends to investigate.

"You can never assume, you have to run every lead and you have to exhaust every lead until it's completely exhausted and there's nowhere else to go," Webb said.

We hope to know more about the two men once autopsy results are complete.
