With just one race left in the NASCAR Round of 8 playoffs and three Championship 4 spots up for grabs, all eyes have descended upon Kansas Speedway.
Kyle Larson was the first of the top-eight drivers to punch his ticket to the championship round after a win last week at Texas Motor Speedway. Of the seven remaining drivers vying for the remaining playoff spots, Kyle Blaney is the only one who has never won a race at Kansas Speedway.
Entering Sunday's race, the second, third and fourth spots are separated by just nine points, with Ryan Blaney in second (4072) , Denny Hamlin in third (4064) and Kyle Busch in fourth (4063). Hamlin has won at Kansas three times before while Busch has two wins at Kansas under his belt.
Even the drivers in the back half of the top eight could pose a threat at Kansas and at least make things competitive in the final Round of 8 race next week at Martinsville Speedway. A win by any one of them could put them above the cut line, especially Chase Elliott and Brad Keselowski, who are just eight and 15 points out, respectively.
It's especially likely that an upset could occur and shuffle things up given that Hamlin and Busch are both just barely above the cut line with nine and eight point cushions, respectively.
