The biggest news coming out of Monday night's edition of Raw was Bobby Lashley finally accepting Goldberg's SummerSlam challenge. The two men will now officially meet for Lashley's WWE championship at the Aug. 21 pay-per-view event.

Lashley opened the show by again refusing to grant Goldberg his match, drawing the WWE and WCW legend to the ring to question Lashley's manhood. After Goldberg delivered a spear to MVP, Lashley finally gave in and vowed to end Goldberg when the two meet at the summer's biggest event.

CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Allstate Arena in Chicago.

Bobby Lashley vs. Goldberg at SummerSlam made official

Bobby Lashley and MVP opened the show with an in-ring promo, explaining that they respected Goldberg as an icon in the wrestling business but that Lashley was more than the men Goldberg had faced in the past. The refusal to answer Goldberg's challenge was, MVP said, an attempt to avoid a casualty. This brought Goldberg to the ring, where he said Lashley should be afraid of losing his WWE championship -- and that Lashley looked scared. Goldberg again laid out the challenge to Lashley, vowing to take the title at SummerSlam. After Goldberg left the ring, MVP got in the face of Goldberg's son at ringside, saying Lashley would end his father's career. This drew Goldberg back to lay out MVP with a spear.

Later in the show, Lashley said he hopes Goldberg brings his son to SummerSlam so that he can watch Lashley annihilate him. This was the official confirmation of Goldberg vs. Lashley at the summer spectacular.

There weren't many highlights for the show, which largely featured rematches of action from the previous week and action that felt as though it had no real long-term impact. If nothing else, the match everyone knew was coming is finally official, whether anyone wanted to see it or not. WWE made the same mistake they've made in every recent Goldberg appearance, allowing him to spend more than 30 seconds on the microphone while cutting a long, rambling promo that did little to build any anticipation. Grade: C-

What else happened on WWE Raw?

  • Drew McIntyre def. Veer & Shanky via disqualification in a handicap match. McIntyre was setting up for a Claymore when Jinder Mahal interfered, hitting McIntyre with a chair. As Mahal and his henchmen all held chairs, McIntyre grabbed his sword from ringside, taking out Mahal and Veer before Shanky backed down and ducked from the ring as McIntyre threatened to murder him with the sword.
  • Rhea Ripley def. Nia Jax via pinfall with a schoolboy pin. Jax, who was badly busted open near her eye, ran into Shayna Baszler on the ring apron to set up the pin. Jax and Baszler argued after the match before Baszler left and Ripley re-entered the ring to hit Jax with Riptide.
  • Mace & T-Bar def. Mansoor & Mustafa Ali via pinfall when T-Bar hit Mansoor with a discus big boot. Ali was berating Mansoor after the match when Mace and T-Bar returned to hit a double chokeslam.
  • Charlotte Flair cut a promo saying that Nikki A.S.H. cashing in the Money in the Bank contract was using "the most cowardly way to win a championship." Flair pointed out that she'd been cashed in on three times in her career, saying it was the only way anyone can manage to take titles from her. Nikki ran in during the promo, hitting Flair from behind with a steel chair.
  • Tamina def. Doudrop via pinfall after a Samoan drop. After the match, Alexa Bliss appeared on the Tron to taunt Eva Marie. Marie and Doudrop attacked Bliss on her playground later in the night, leaving her laying before Lilly the doll stood up on her own.
  • Damian Priest def. John Morrison via pinfall after appearing with Morrison and The Miz on Miz TV. After the match, Sheamus attacked Priest from behind before Ricochet ran in to make the save. This led immediately to a tag match.
  • Damian Priest & Ricochet def. John Morrison & Sheamus via pinfall after Priest used Reckoning to pin Morrison.
  • Omos def. Riddle via pinfall after hitting a chokebomb.
  • Keith Lee def. Karrion Kross via pinfall with a Spirit Bomb. The win was Lee's first since returning to Raw two weeks ago after a six-month absence.
  • 27/7 Championship -- Reggie (c) def. Akira Tozawa via pinfall with a flipping senton to retain his championship.
  • Nikki A.S.H. def. Charlotte Flair via pinfall in a no holds barred match. Flair appeared to have Nikki beat multiple times, twice breaking her own pin to pick Nikki up and inflict more damage. Flair dominated the match, putting Nikki through the announce table along the way. Flair lined up a spear but Nikki ducked, sending Flair crashing through a table propped in the corner. This allowed Nikki to hit a suspended twisting neckbreaker for the victory.
