Serrano cruises to another win

In the co-main event, Brooklyn's seven-division women's champion Amanda Serrano retained her WBC/WBO featherweight belts by unanimous decision by scores of 97-93, 98-92, 99-91 over Mexico's Yamileth Mercado. Serrano (41-1-1) immediately exuded her boxing superiority, then battered Mercado's body in the middle rounds, cutting her under the left eye in the ninth en route to her 27th consecutive victory. Forced to retreat to the pressure, Mercado remarkably stayed on her feet despite excessive abuse in the 10th round. Mercado will return to super-bantamweight action.

"I out on a great performance, I had a tough Mexican in front of me," Serrano said. "I hope I made the sport of women's boxing proud." Serrano said she'd seek out undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor in the near future.

Montana Love defeats Ivan Baranchyk via 7th-round TKO

Montana Love flipped the script on what was supposed to be a return power display by former IBF 140-pound champion Ivan Baranchyk. A hard left-handed uppercut by Cleveland's unbeaten Love flush to the face of Baranchyk convinced Baranchyk trainer Pedro Diaz to stop the fight in the corner after the seventh round. Love (16-0-1, 8 KOs) had withstood Baranchyk's power attempts earlier, piling up rounds with impressive counterpunching and superb movement.

"Hopefully, I gained more fans tonight. We've been working on this uppercut in camp and we brought it to life. The game plan was to move. We know he doesn't have any feet," Love said. "It's my time." He called out undisputed champion Josh Taylor and two-division champion Gervonta Davis afterward.

Despite a substantial size advantage, unbeaten cruiserweight Tommy Fury didn't particularly impress, but did enough to dispose of California's Anthony Taylor in their pay-per-view undercard bout Sunday.

Fury, the half-brother of WBC heavyweight champion, improved to 7-0, winning a unanimous decision by three scores of 40-36. Fury has been mentioned as a possible next opponent for Jake Paul should Paul defeat Tyron Woodley in tonight's main event.

"It was a good performance. I've achieved a lot off (seven) fights. Jake Paul, let's get it on. Jump in the ring." Fury admits he's a work in progress after appearing as a reality television series on the U.K. show "Love Island." "We're learning, we're building. We'll get there. Slowly or surely."

Who should you bet on tonight?

Tonight's card will have plenty of intriguing matchups to consider betting. Our Lance Pugmire believes the following will happen.

  • "I like taking the Jake Paul to win bet and enhancing it by embracing a round option, using half of the total I bet to win by jumping on the KO in round four offer."
  • The charismatic Tommy Fury, who performed on the U.K. reality television series “Love Island,” is a sound offer to win by KO/stoppage at -450 against the diminutive Taylor."
  • "At age 23, Daniel Dubois is rebuilding the thrill about who he can become in the revived division, so let’s foresee what’s coming – something Cusumano won’t be able to — and embrace the -1200 odds on a Dubois victory by KO/stoppage."
