Wineries reopen to allow full service tastings - KSBY San Luis Obispo News

One of the most popular attractions on the Central Coast finally has the go-ahead to reopen fully.

Many wineries opened for full service for the first time this weekend after being closed from a statewide order during the pandemic.

Wineries were allowed to reopen a few weeks ago as long as they served food, but wineries who only served alcohol were given the go-ahead this weekend.

Claiborne and Churchill Winery in Edna Valley poured glasses for customers for the first time in three months.

They said the closure really set them back on new plans they had for the business, however they are extremely excited to welcome back their guests.

"What we really want to do is establish a really welcoming feel for them when they come out and I think so far people seem to be receiving that just the way that we intended," said Brook Thompson, the Claiborne and Churchill wine club manager.

Currently, guests can purchase full bottles or wines by the glass.

Claiborne and Churchill hope to start wine flight tastings within the next coupe of weeks.

The winery says reservations are preferred, however walk-ins are acceptable.
