During the year-long wait for UFC champion Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier to finally step into the Octagon for their rubber match, heavyweights like Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov have been jockeying for position in the sport's most dangerous division. Now, at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Volkov, those two men will battle in an attempt to position themselves among the short list of potential title contenders in the second half of 2020.
Blaydes will enter the fight as the biggest favorite on the card, but Volkov is a dangerous big man who is 7-1 over his eight most recent fights, with the lone loss coming via knockout just 11 seconds before he would have won his clash with Derrick Lewis on the scorecards. Blaydes has only ever suffered defeat at the hands of top heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou and is on a dominant three-fight winning streak.
