LANSING, MI -- It’s been several months since anyone has won the Mega Millions jackpot, but because of the ongoing COIVD-19 pandemic, the jackpot has not climbed as quickly as usual. However, on Friday night, May 22, the jackpot will be just shy of $300 million as the estimated jackpot is worth $293 million with a cash option of $235 million.
Once again, MLive will be providing live results of tonight’s drawing and will update this story with the winning numbers as they come in. I’ll be jumping in the comments at 10:55 p.m. to answer questions and share the winning numbers.
How to play Mega Millions and Powerball
The Mega Millions drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the following TV stations throughout the state:
- WBKB-TV 11 (CBS)
- WDIV-TV 4 (NBC)
- WNEM-TV 5 (CBS)
- WXSP-TV (MyNetwork TV)
- WLAJ-TV 53 (ABC)
- WMKG-TV 38 (IND)
- WLUC-TV 6 (NBC/FOX)
- WGTU-TV 29/WGTQ-TV 8 (ABC)
Follow the drawing, MLive will publish an update in the morning that includes whether or not anyone won the jackpot.
The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot were a couple from Suttons Bay who came forward to claim an $80 million Powerball win. That couple plans on using the money to support their family of seven kids and 21 grandkids.
And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a winner worth $1 million sold in Hartland last year went unclaimed. The ticket was purchased at the Speedway in Hartland, but the winner never came forward to claim the prize. The money instead went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
