There isn't much better than a Sunday afternoon of watching golf and taking a nap, and fans who have been deprived of live sports for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic got a rare dose of that routine from watching Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning stave off a late comeback from Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady in "The Match 2."
Woods and Manning won three of the first six holes to take an early lead, but Mickelson and Brady made it interesting on the back nine, picking up wins on Hole 11 and Hole 14 to make it a one-hole game down the stretch. Woods and Manning did just enough to tie each of the last four holes and seal the win.
It was a golf event unlike any other we've seen: a match-style contest, with both teams going head-to-head each hole to collect points. The front nine was a best ball contest, with each team taking the best score between both golfers. The back nine was an alternating shot contest, with both golfers on each team teeing off, then selecting which spot they wanted to use and alternating each stroke.
Not only was the action exciting, but the event raised money towards COVID-19 relief efforts. All four participants agreed to donate the $10 million purse. So it turned out to be a win for everyone.

The Match 2 highlights
8:10 p.m. — Woods and Manning seal it with a par to draw on Hole 18. What a fun way to spend a Sunday.
7:58 p.m. — Neither QB can sink the Birdie putt so both teams tie at par on Hole 17. Woods and Manning still have a one-hole lead heading into the final hole.
7:55 p.m. — Woods and Mickelson both hit the green on the third shot, setting up both QBs with a chance for Birdie on the Par-5 Hole 17.
7:47 p.m. — Mickelson and Woods both get Birdie putts on Hole 16; Woods and Manning lead by one hole with two holes left to play.
7:44 p.m. — Russel Wilson joins the broadcast and offers to donate 100,000 meals to Wheels Up's "Meals Up" charity for COVID-19 relief for every drive that lands within 12 feet of the pin on Hole 16, and shockingly everyone except Woods makes the cut.
7:37 p.m. — Both pros set up the QBs with putts for Birdie on the green, but neither one is able to convert. Woods gets a tap-in, Mickelson makes his putt to keep it as a draw. Still a one-hole game with three holes left.
7:33 p.m. — Brady wins the amateur's long drive challeng on Hole 15 by just one yard over Manning.
7:25 p.m. — Brady misses a short putt for Birdie on Hole 14, but Manning misses the tap-in for par and suddenly it's a one-hole game with four holes to play.
7:10 p.m. — Manning misses his par putt right on the fifth shot on Hole 13, but Mickelson misses wide left and the two teams tie again. Woods and Manning are still up two, five holes left.
6:58 p.m. — Mickelson wins the second closest to the hole on Hole 12 (seven feet, eight inches), but Brady's Birdie putt lips out and both teams tie with a par. Woods and Manning up two with six holes remaining.
6:48 p.m. — Manning gets a great second shot within just a few feet of the hole, but Brady sinks an Eagle putt to get their first win of the day. Woods and Manning are up two with seven holes to play.
6:45 p.m. — Mickelson gets a great drive on the Par-4 Hole 11, just past the hole on the green.
6:38 p.m. — Mickelson and Brady opt to go with Brady's drive, and Mickelson's second shot ends up just outside the green. Meanwhile, Woods and Manning use Woods' drive and Manning's second shot ends up just on the edge. Brady puts a nice put close to the hole and Tiger puts the Birdie putt short, so both teams draw with par. Woods and Manning still up three with eight holes to go.
6:24 p.m. — Mickelson sinks a par putt to tie the holle, Woods and Manning still up three heading into the alternating shots portion of the contest.
6:13 p.m. — Another water hazard for Brady and balance has been restored to the universe on Hole 9. This is the final hole of best ball play.
6:06 p.m. — Mickelson sinks a Birdie putt to draw even with Manning (who had a one-stroke handicap with Brady). Manning and Woods still up three after eight holes.
5:59 p.m. — No one wins the $25 million Hole-in-One challenge on Hole 8, but at least we got to see Brady put on some new pants after ripping them.
5:51 p.m. — Tiger nearly putts one in for Eagle to win, but he'll settle for a birdie to halve Hole 7. Woods and Manning up three.
5:47 p.m. — WOW. Brady hits his best shot of the day for a Birdie. That gives them a good shot to get their first win.
5:40 p.m. — Another drive, another fairway for Tiger on Hole 7. Phil gets unlucky and lands in the edge of the bunker. And Brady and Manning find dirt with their drives.
5:34 p.m. — Manning and Brady both get a free stroke on Hole 6 (Par 4), and Manning wins it with a net birdie on the fourth stroke. He and Woods are now up three.
5:11 p.m. — Woods' putt for par (with his 4-iron) lips out, so both teams draw with a bogey on Hole 5. Woods and Manning still up two.
5:08 p.m. — Tiger bets Phil that if the lefty hit his ball on the green, he'd give him the hole. Mickelson comes within inches, but still gets a nice shot on the green.
5:00 p.m. — Brady's struggle continues as he hits it in the water off the tee on Hole 5. You hate to see it.
4:58 p.m. — This ought to be the most interesting hole of the day with a "one-club" challenge. Tiger goes with a 4-iron on the Par 4, while Phil goes with a 6-iron.
4:55 p.m. — Manning sinks the Birdie putt to win Hole 4, and he and Woods are up by two.
4:50 p.m. — Now we've got a closest to the hole challenge on Hole 3. Charles Barkley offers up a $50,000 donation if Brady hits the green, so naturally he completely misses on the 184-yard drive. Woods wins the challenge with a drive that lands eight feet four inches from the pin, adding $125,000 to PGA Tour COVID-19 relief fund in his name.
4:45 p.m. — Brady whiffs his fifth shot on an approach, then rolls it on the green with his sixth. Manning's putt from off the green on his fifth is just a little short. Woods' approach for eagle is short and wide right, but he taps in for birdie to take the win on Hole 3.
4:34 p.m. — Mickelson is able to get out of a tight spot and back onto the fairway with is second. Woods hits the green with his second but it rolls off.
4:29 p.m. — Manning and Brady both manage to land their ball in bushes on opposite sides of the fairway. Nothing more relatable in the history of golf.
4:26 p.m. — Our first challenge of the day: a long drive challenge between Tiger and Phil on the 551-yard Hole 3. Mickelson's shot is... not good, but Woods hits a solid one up the middle, so $1.5 million will go to the charity of his choice.
4:22 p.m. — Mickelson narrowly misses a birdie on an impressive approach from off the green. Manning's birdie putt for the win misses wide, while Woods' attempt comes up just short. Both teams tie Hole 2 with a par.
4:18 p.m. — Manning gets a nice second shot onto the green, while Brady loses his ball and takes a drop. Woods also hits the green while Mickelson is just outside.
4:10 p.m. — Woods and Mickelson both hit fairways on their drives on Hole 2. Brady's drive slices, but Manning's hooks back towards the middle of the fairway.
4:06 p.m. — Woods' putt for birdie comes up short. Brady's putt for par narrowly curves right. Mickelson's birdie putt also comes up a little short, but he gets it for par. Woods equals him to make it a draw on the first hole.
3:58 p.m. — Mickelson and Woods both get on the green with their second shots. Manning and Brady both get there with their next shots.
3:55 p.m. — Brady and Manning both get their ball back onto the fairway, though Manning had to take a drop with an unplayable ball. Nice job considering the circumstances.
3:52 p.m. — "The Match" is finally underway. Mickelson, the defending champ, and Woods, "The GOAT" according to Samuel L. Jackson get it teed off, followed by the other GOAT, Brady, and Manning. Brady's shot lands in a puddle in the sand, Manning's lands somewhere in the palm trees...
3:22 p.m. — Peyton Manning with ALL of the trash talk towards Tom Brady. Said he considered bringing his brother, Eli, with him, as well as Nick Foles and even thought about inviting Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

"The Match" has challenges, such as Hole 5, where each golfer can only use one club on the entire hole. The first nine holes of the day will be "best ball," meaning the lowest score on each of the first nine holes for the teams will be kept. On the last nine holes, teammates will rotate on every shot.
