ROGERS PARK — The Glenwood Sunday Market will get a later start and a new location this summer as it seeks to accommodate customers during the coronavirus pandemic.
Originally scheduled to begin on May 31, the local farmers market will now operate every other Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning June 21, the Rogers Park Business Alliance announced Wednesday. It will run through Oct. 25.
A new location for the market will be announced later, the business group said. The new site will allow for more social distancing.
Usually taking place on Glenwood Avenue between Morse and Lunt avenues, the Glenwood Sunday Market has been a staple of Rogers Park summers for 10 years. Featuring local vendors and regional farmers, the market serves 52,000 shoppers annually, the Rogers Park Business Alliance said in a press release.
Like other summer events, neighborhood markets are having to change up their plans to help enforce social distancing and other precautions to stop the virus’ spread. In Ravenswood, a local farmers market is offering drive-through shopping.
The Glenwood market is now offering online shopping, where many of its regular vendors are selling their products for deliver or curbside pick-up. The virtual market can be found by clicking here.
