Stine fills the seat of former Sen. Ronnie Johns, who served nine years as state senator before accepting Gov. John Bel Edwards’ appointment as chairman of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board in July.
“The voters of Calcasieu Parish decisively chose to usher in a new generation of leadership,” Stine said in a statement. “While many challenges still lie ahead, I’m incredibly humbled our community entrusted me with this responsibility. I promise to serve our district with a servant’s heart and use the values of faith, family, and community as my guiding principles in the State Senate. From Carlyss to Moss Bluff, I want each constituent to know; whether you voted for me or not, your State Senator is here to listen, learn, and work with anyone to rebuild our community.”
Granger, a financial planner, released the following statement in conceding the race: “Our community came together to fight for what is right in this election. I’m proud of the campaign we ran. And the infrastructure we built isn’t going anywhere. We made over 300,000 direct voter engagements in this campaign through phone calls, text messages, and door knocks. I have never been more excited to call this place my home.”
Stine graduated from LSU with a degree in political science and French. He currently serves as marketing director for Stine Lumber and is the president of the Alliance for Positive Growth.
