Quarterback Bryce Young connected with wide receiver John Metchie III on a 2-point conversion in the fourth overtime Saturday to seal a 24-22 victory for No. 3 Alabama over Auburn in the first Iron Bowl game to go to OT.
The win moved the Crimson Tide to 11-1 (7-1 SEC). Auburn finished its regular season 6-6 (3-5 SEC).
Young completed 25 of 51 passes for 317 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. He was under heavy pressure from the Tigers' defense throughout the game. Auburn sacked him seven times. The interception, by safety Bydarrius Knighten in the third quarter, was Young's first in 227 passing attempts.

Alabama star wide receiver Jameson Williams recorded two catches for 43 yards before he was ejected for a targeting penalty in the second quarter. The Crimson Tide finished the game with 11 penalties for 129 yards while the Tigers had seven for 53 yards.

Alabama came into the game as the SEC West champion, so this year's Iron Bowl was about preserving its chance at securing a spot in the College Football Playoff. The Tide will face No. 1 Georgia in the SEC championship game Saturday in Atlanta.
