The Detroit Lions looked poised to upset the Chicago Bears for the majority of the first half, yet their NFC North rivals hold the halftime lead in this Thanksgiving matinee. Chicago took the lead on a 17-yard strike from Andy Dalton to Jimmy Graham, one play after Dalton found Darnell Mooney for 52 yards, to take a 10-7 lead with 4:29 left in the second quarter. The touchdown catch was the 83rd in Graham's career, the fourth-most in NFL history amongst tight ends.
Dalton is 16 of 26 for 216 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the first half. Amani Oruwariye intercepted Goff on third down in the end zone to hold the Bears to zero points late in the second quarter -- this after a Goff fumble deep in his own territory put the Bears in excellent field position to extend their lead. The Bears did get the ball back as Cairo Santos booted a 43-yard field goal just prior to the half to give Chicago a 13-7 lead at the break.
Jared Goff completed his first 12 passes in the game for the Lions, including a 39-yard touchdown to Josh Reynolds to give Detroit an early 7-0 lead. The Lions appeared ready to strike for the upset, but penalties and a D'Andre Swift injury (shoulder) have hurt them late in the opening half. Swift is questionable to return as the Lions are missing their top offensive playmaker -- despite not having a rushing yard in the first half.
