Premier League clubs will be allowed to name nine substitutes when the new season kicks off this weekend.
The last two campaigns have seen the size of matchday squads increased mid-season, with the 20 clubs voting through changes that saw the number of substitutes climb from seven to nine.
The most recent change came in December of last year and will now be unamended for 2021-22, the Premier League has confirmed.
A new season gets under way on Friday night as newly-promoted Brentford host Arsenal but, as with 2020-21, managers will only be allowed to use three of the nine substitutes in normal circumstances. They will also have two concussion substitutes available.
The EFL campaign began at the weekend, with clubs only allowed to name seven subs on their bench.
