As WrestleMania Backlash draws near, WWE is in the process of building hype for the May 16 event. On Monday night, the issues between WWE champion Bobby Lashley and Backlash challengers Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman took center stage.
In the night's main event, Lashley battled Strowman in non-title action. McIntyre is not the type of man to stand idly by, however, and by the end of the night, he had entered the ring and laid out both Lashley and Strowman. In response, it was announced that next week's Raw would feature a singles match between McIntyre and Lashley.
CBS Sports was with you all night, bringing you results and highlights from the ThunderDome inside Yuengling Center.
McIntyre lays out Lashley and Strowman
After an argument broke out between Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre to open the show, a coin flip took place to determine which man would face Bobby Lashley in singles action. Strowman won the toss, but McIntyre promised to send Strowman to "Claymore country" after the match. McIntyre and Strowman traded words again later in the show when Strowman interrupted a McIntyre interview.
Bobby Lashley def. Braun Strowman via pinfall with a spear. The two big men met power with power early before Strowman went for a quick running powerslam before Lashley was able to muscle his way out of the hold. Shortly after the start of the match, McIntyre's music hit and he made his way to the ring. Strowman climbed out of the ring to confront McIntyre but was hit from behind by Lashley, who offered McIntyre a fist bump. McIntyre sat in on the commentary for the match before eventually trading words with Strowman, leading a distracted Strowman to get hit by a Lashley spear for the finish. McIntyre then entered the ring and hit both men with Claymores to end the show.
This really did nothing to build the issues between Lashley, Strowman and McIntyre. The hinting that McIntyre and Lashley could team up to get rid of Strowman wasn't ever actually in play and the main event match was short and a large chunk was lost to a commercial break. There's not much they can do to add any extra interest to the WrestleMania Backlash match, but what little they can do wasn't really accomplished here. Grade: C

Sheamus attacked Carrillo during a backstage interview, telling Carrillo he'd now be in no condition to answer the open challenge later in the evening. Mansoor was then shown signing his Raw contract backstage before Sheamus issued a challenge to the newest member of the Raw locker room. As Sheamus seemed to have the match in hand, Carrillo ran in for the DQ, but Sheamus was able to end things by hitting both men with Brogue Kicks. The disqualification loss ended a 49-0 run for Mansoor.

- Lucha House Party def. Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin via pinfall after Gran Metalik hit Benjamin with the rope-walk elbow. After the match, Alexander ranted at Benjamin, saying Benjamin was the reason they were kicked out of The Hurt Business and he should have turned his back too. Alexander then said that their team was done.
- Angel Garza def. Drew Gulak via pinfall with a Wing Clipper. After Gulak threw down the challenge for the match, Garza promised to shove a rose up Gulak's "ass." Following the match, Garza stuck a rose down Gulak's pants and then punted the same spot with a running kick.
- Randy Orton & Riddle def. Elias & Jaxson Ryker via pinfall after Riddle hit Elias with a Floating Bro. The match came about after Elias and Ryker accidentally hit Orton with a thrown tomato backstage.
- Alexa Bliss discussed Lily in Alexa's Playground, saying someone had caught the doll's eye, but she wasn't ready to reveal who.
- Women's Tag Team Championship -- Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (c) def. Lana & Naomi via submission to retain the titles. Reginald ran interference to help turn the tide and set up Baszler to lock in the Kirifuda Clutch.
