IT IS HAPPENING! BUFFALO BILLS FANS WILL RETURN TO BILLS STADIUM THIS JANUARY!

New York State and the Buffalo Bills have come to an agreement allowing 6700 fans to attend the team’s home Wild Card game. It’s the first home playoff game for the Bills since 1995.

Bills’ backup quarterback Matt Barkley tweeted a cryptic message at 2:50 p.m. EST on Wednesday, and things began picking up after that. For a team that clinched a trip to the playoffs a week and a half ago, why would he be sending this now?

Then Tim Graham of The Athletic hinted that Bills fans would like NY Governor Andrew Cuomo’s press conference. During that press conference, Cuomo announced that the state Department of Health, Bills, and National Football League reached an agreement to permit fans at the game with the following conditions:

  • Limited number of fans to 6700
  • Testing every fan two or three days before the game at Bills Stadium (no outside tests)
  • Contact tracing after the game
  • Social distancing must be followed
  • No tailgating
  • Entry will be granted using time windows to stagger crowds
  • Masks worn except for while consuming concessions, which will be made available in a limited capacity
  • Fans will pay for their own testing at $63 a pop and you’ll need to pay $11 for parking, as well.
  • NO TICKET RESALES so no secondary market availability

“I feel the mood. It’s been a long time. They’ve captured an atmosphere and mood that’s been infectious,” said Cuomo, who plans on attending the game Sunday. “But we have to take this seriously.”

Pods of two or four tickets will be available to season ticket holders who opted in for the season. They will begin being sold on December 31 to club seat holders before going to general season ticket holders the following day and will be made available by seniority.

“People watching the game in the stadium will be the safest in the state watching the game,” said NYS Health Commissioner Howard Zucker.

Bills owners Kim and Terry Pegula joined Governor Cuomo during the press conference, as well, to share their excitement.

“Our objective is [for fans] to support our team in as many ways as they can. I ask them to be safe, be smart, and most of all be loud,” said Terry Pegula.

If you’re hoping to attend multiple games this postseason, you’re out of luck. Fans who attend Wild Card weekend won’t be eligible to purchase tickets for the Divisional round.

For the record; no fans will be allowed at the season finale this Sunday vs. the Miami Dolphins.

As happy as fans were, players in addition to Barkley immediately took to Twitter to share how excited they were.
