Tiger Woods is back on the golf course after a disappointing end to the 2020 FedEx Cup playoffs, in which he exited after a 51st-place finish and 11-over-par score. Now he'll take to the Winged Foot Golf Course in New York in search of that elusive 83rd PGA Tour event win and 16th major victory.
The last time Woods played the US Open on this course is not a happy memory for him: It was six weeks removed from the death of his father. He opened the tournament with a 6-over 76 — his worst-ever start to a major — and registered six bogeys and a double. He ended up missing the cut by three strokes.

Hole 8: Par 4, 478 yards
Shot 1: Tiger's in the left-side rough off the tee, 172 yards from the hole. Not the worst, but he's had some issues finding the fairway today.
Shot 2: He couldn't get a full swing out of the (very thick) rough. He hacks into the fairway bunker. He hates it.
Hole 7: Par 3, 165 yards (par)
Shot 1: Tiger uses the short iron off the tee; his ball lands flat about 10 to 12 feet from birdie.
Shot 2: That's rough; Tiger's birdie attempt looked true until it broke late and missed right. He'll have par from about a foot out.
Shot 3: Par it is.
Hole 6: Par 4, 329 yards (birdie)
Shot 1: And Tiger finds the fairway, 111 yards from the hole.
Shot 2: A beautiful wedge shot over the trees lands just beyond the hole and rolls back to a 6-foot look at birdie. Best approach of the day so far.
Shot 3: And he sunk it. That birdie should give him some confidence moving forward.
Hole 5: Par 4, 483 yards (bogey)
Shot 1: Tiger's on the right side of the fairway about 190 yards from the hole.
Shot 2: And his approach shot lands just short, in the greenside bunker.
Shot 3: Pretty good bunker shot at an awkward angle gets him about 4 feet from par.
Shot 4: He can't convert the par; he misses just right. That'll be consecutive bogeys for Tiger.
Shot 5: Bogey.
Hole 4: Par 4, 453 yards (bogey)
Shot 1: Tiger blasts it up the right-hand side, but it rolls into the rough just short of the bunker.
Shot 2: He's back center of the fairway, looking at 55 feet from the hole. Not ideal — story of the round so far — but again, not in a bad position for par.
Shot 3: Tiger lag-putts from the fairway and misses an incredible birdie just left of the hole. That putt leaves him about 13 feet from par in the fringe.
Shot 4: Misses it right. He's looking at a 3-footer for bogey.
Shot 5: Bogey it is.
Hole 3: Par 3, 231 yards (par)
Shot 1: Tiger goes with the long iron and hits the left-side bunker again. He has a decent lie but more than likely will have to settle for par at best.
Shot 2: He chips out but the ball rolls about 6 feet past the hole.
Shot 3: And there was no doubt about it; par.
Hole 2: Par 4, 447 yards (par)
Shot 1: Tiger one-hops his tee into the left-side bunker. Not ideal but still in play for a par or better.
Shot 2: Out of one bunker and into another; Tiger didn't like that from the outset. Still, he's not out of play for an up-and-down par.
Shot 3: Nice bunker shot lands Tiger about 6 feet from par. That would be pretty good all things considered.
Shot 4: And he centers it for par.
Hole 1: Par 4, 455 yards (par)
Shot 1: And we're off. Tiger finds the fairway, not too far from groupmate Justin Thomas' ball, 150 yards from the hole. Good start.
Shot 2: Tiger's approach lands on the green above the tee, but keeps rolling back several feet below the pin. He's looking at an 18-footer uphill for birdie.
Shot 3: He had a good look at it but missed just left. Tiger will have to settle for the walk-in par to start the day.
