WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Braun Strowman sends final message to Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre - CBSSports.com

For the second straight episode of Raw, WWE champion Bobby Lashley was out to prove his superiority against one of his upcoming opponents at WrestleMania Backlash. On Monday night, that meant a clash with former champion Drew McIntyre in the main event.

Of course, Braun Strowman -- the third piece in the upcoming triple threat -- was guaranteed to insert himself into the match between Lashley and McIntyre. Despite the urgings of Lashley associate MVP, Strowman did not only set his sights on McIntyre, but also lashed out at Lashley in a big post-match beatdown of both men, sending one final message ahead of Sunday's pay-per-view event.

CBS Sports was with you all night, bringing you recaps and highlights of all the action from the ThunderDome inside Yuengling Center in Tampa.

Braun Strowman powerslams everybody

Early in the show, MVP was shown making a trip to Braun Strowman's locker room. MVP told Strowman he was just there to talk business, saying Bobby Lashley didn't beat Strowman last week, Drew McIntyre did -- and even Lashley knew that. MVP then floated the idea that if McIntyre were somehow injured, the scheduled triple threat match at WrestleMania Backlash would instead be a straight match between Stowman and Lashley for Lashley's title.

Drew McIntyre def. Bobby Lashley via disqualification after interference from Braun Strowman. After the expected back-and-forth action, McIntyre hit Lashley with a Claymore. Strowman's music hit before McIntyre could score the pin and Strowman attacked from behind. Strowman then shook hands with Lashley and shared a hug before hitting Lashley with a powerslam. A powerslam for McIntyre was next and another for Lashley, this time driving the champion through the ringside barricade. Strowman closed the show with one final powerslam on McIntyre.

The Raw trend of just switching up players and running back the exact same angles as the week before continued here. Last week it was Lashley vs. Strowman ending with McIntyre laying everyone out. This week it was a slightly more dominant beatdown with Strowman and McIntyre switching places. When you can call exactly how things are going to play out, that's not great. Grade: C-

What else happened on WWE Raw?

  • Asuka, Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke def. Charlotte Flair, Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax via pinfall when Asuka pinned Baszler after a running knee. Alexa Bliss interrupted the match with Lily, saying they were out to "keep their eye on someone." Bliss and the doll then watched the match from a swingset on the entrance ramp.
  • Jinder Mahal def. Jeff Hardy via pinfall with the Khallas. Mahal was making his return to Raw after a lengthy absence due to injury. He introduced two large men who accompanied him to the ring as Veer and Shanky.
  • RKBro & The New Day def. AJ Styles, Omos, Elias & Jaxson Ryker via pinfall when Randy Orton hit Elias with an RKO. After the match, Orton reminded Riddle who he is, hitting both New Day members with RKOs.
  • Sheamus def. Humbert Carrillo via referee stoppage. The match ended after what appeared to be a legitimate injury to Carrillo when he attempted a sunset flip powerbomb from the ring apron to the floor but landed awkwardly with Sheamus on top of him. After a brief pause, the match was waived off and Sheamus was declared the winner.
  • Shelton Benjamin def. Cedric Alexander via pinfall with a t-bone suplex. Alexander dominated the match but let his temper get the best of him, leaving an opening for the shock finish.
  • Rhea Ripley def. Asuka via pinfall with Riptide. The match was announced by Sonya Deville after she said she suggested it and thought it was a good idea. Charlotte Flair came to ringside for the match, obviously the person who had planted the idea of having the women beat each other up before the Backlash triple threat match for Ripley's Raw women's championship.
  • Damian Priest def. John Morrison via pinfall with Hit the Lights. The match carried the stipulation that the winner would choose the stipulation for Priest vs. The Miz at WrestleMania Backlash. For the second straight match between Priest and Morrison, Miz interference backfired and may have cost Morrison the match.
