18 more people have received positive test results for COVID-19 in Douglas County, with 1 new presumptive case, as of Thursday.
An update from the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team said the county has already broke a weekly case record, with 106 new cases reported, and two days left in the week. Last week a record was broken with 78 new cases. County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said “It has been a terrible, terrible, terrible week with COVID”. He said it has been the week with the most cases in the world, the most cases in the United States, the most cases in Oregon, and the most cases in Douglas County as well. Dannenhoffer said many new cases are related to family and sports gatherings and lots of parties. Other cases are related to travel. Finally, many new cases are from when a resident goes back to work and school when they are still sick.
The total number of cases is now at 563. Of those, 503 are people that have received positive test results and 60 are presumptive. There have been 10 deaths. 11 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 locally. 152 people are in isolation. 494 people are in quarantine. That means the Douglas Public Health Network is supporting 646 people that are in either isolation or quarantine. 16,929 people have tested negative for COVID-19 in the county.
The next drive through testing clinic with the Douglas Public Health Network will be Friday in Roseburg.
