With the UFC's trip to Fight Island in the rearview mirror, the promotion returns to the UFC APEX in Las Vegas on Saturday for UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Shahbazyan. In the main event, middleweight contenders Derek Brunson and Edmen Shahbazyan battle it out to build their resumes in the hopes of possibly securing a 185-pound title shot in the future.
Brunson's lengthy UFC career has seen him become one of the toughest gatekeepers across all weight classes, losing only to the elite of the middleweight division while halting the ascent of many mid-tier contenders. Shahbazyan will attempt to prove he is up to the test at just 22 years old. Shahbazyan is undefeated in his career with a 91% stopping rate.
In the co-main event, Joanne Calderwood steps into the Octagon against Jennifer Maia in a bout that risks Calderwood's spot as the top contender to the women's flyweight championship.
The six-fight main card kicks off at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN+ after preliminary bouts that begin at 7 p.m.
