Those who are born into the royal family don’t always have a choice as to whether they want to be in the public eye.
This especially holds true for senior members of the family, such as Prince Harry. He has been in the spotlight since the day he was born, and chances are, he can’t remember a time when he wasn’t being followed by photographers and talked about in the news.
Being a member of a family really isn’t something that a person can “quit”. The best that they can do is distance themselves from the others, and often times, that doesn’t even happen.
For Prince Harry, who was probably the wildest member of the royal family, life wasn’t always easy. In fact, there was a time when he just didn’t want to do it anymore. So, what happened when Prince Harry revealed how close he was to quitting the royal family for good?
Harry was once known as the ‘lovable rogue’ of the royal family
The royals follow a strict set of guidelines, and they are on their best behavior at all times. This is something that until recently, Prince Harry didn’t always abide by.
He could often be found hanging out with his friends at pubs throughout the city of London, and he had a famous brawl with a photographer who once got a little too close for Harry’s liking. In fact, Vogue reports that at one time, Prince Harry was once known as the ‘lovable rogue’ of the royal family.
It’s true that before meeting his wife, Meghan Markle, Harry had a bit of a wild side. However, those days are behind him, and now the once party-loving, cigarette-smoking prince has tamed his ways for the better.
Almost at the point of a breakdown
It definitely can’t be easy to be a member of such a high-profile family. For someone like Prince Harry, there is almost no privacy at times. Everything from his first day of school to outings with his late mother, Princess Diana was photographed, whether he liked it or not.
Express reports that royal life got so overwhelming for Harry that after many years of being a carefree party animal, he found himself on the verge of a breakdown. At one point, Harry even admitted that no one in the family actually wants the responsibility of being the ruling monarch — but it is something that they do for the members of the public.
At that point, the young prince was actually questioning his role in the family, wondering if he could carry out his duties and really make a difference in the world. Harry admitted that he didn’t want to take on adult responsibilities, and spend quite some time being pretty unconstructive.
Harry was close to quitting the royal family for good
Much to our delight, Prince Harry decided not to give up his royal titles, and to find his role within the family. It is definitely a good thing that he did because he is excellent at everything that he does.
Harry does extensive charity work, and Look to the Stars reports that he also supports numerous other causes such as abuse, education, homelessness, and much more.
These days, Harry is happily married and recently welcomed an adorable son, Archie Harrison. He and Meghan have proven they are a perfect match, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are truly one of our favorite royal couples. Prince Harry goes out of his way to carry on Diana’s legacy, as well as to create one of his own.
We are so happy that Harry decided to remain a royal because we couldn’t imagine the family without him.
