Heading into SmackDown on Friday, WWE said that Daniel Bryan and universal champion Roman Reigns would sit down to sign their official match contract for their match at Fastlane. That would end up happening, but not before Edge got in the mix, intensifying his newly-formed issues with Bryan.
By the end of the segment, the contract was signed, but Reigns tried to play games to better secure his chances of retaining the universal championship at Fastlane. Jey Uso would angle for a spot as special guest enforcer for the match, but Edge would emerge and lay down a challenge to face Uso for the right to take that spot, an idea quickly accepted by Adam Pearce and made official for next Friday.

Special enforcer match set for next week
Edge opened the show with an in-ring promo, accusing Roman Reigns of distracting himself with his business with Daniel Bryan. Edge then turned his attention to Bryan, taking issue with Bryan saying he deserved the main event of WrestleMania more than Edge because of his love for the business. This brought out Bryan, who said he sees and understands how hard Edge has worked and how much he loves wrestling and that Edge needs to understand that his challenge of Reigns has nothing to do with Edge, but Edge closed by saying that he expected better of Bryan.
The show closed with Bryan and Reigns' contract signing. Reigns said he "wasn't feeling it" and that he would not sign the contract. Bryan said he never thought Reigns would be afraid of him, until realizing that he did something Reigns never could, making Uso quit last week. Reigns grabbed a pen from Paul Heyman, said he was going to smash Bryan and then signed the contract. Uso threw the table from the ring and said the match needed a special guest enforcer to call the match down the middle. Edge then interrupted to say he'd wrestle Uso next week, with the winner becoming special enforcer at Fastlane. A brawl broke down between all four men to close the show, ending with Edge shoving Bryan out of the way and Bryan laying him out with a running knee.
WWE hasn't done a great job of making the issues between Edge and Bryan completely clear. Bryan is not in Edge's way. Edge isn't holding Bryan back. Why is everything so heated? All that said, the show ending segment was good fun, especially Bryan digging at Reigns with the fact that the champ never made Uso quit like he did last week. And if we're getting Edge vs. Uso out of it next week? It's hard to get upset with that. Grade: B
