Last year, Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio and then-general manager John Elway participated in the NFL draft from their homes due to COVID-19 (the team helped coaches and staff members set up home offices).

This year, with vaccines becoming more readily available, the NFL will allow teams to return to their facilities for the draft in April, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The league has given permission to use draft rooms — if social distancing is followed and masks are worn.

In an effort to limit the potential spread of the virus, eating and drinking will not be permitted in the draft rooms, according to Pelissero.

Last year, the Broncos had 23 known players, coaches and staff spend time away from the team because of COVID-19. Denver also had to play a game without a traditional quarterback when all four the team’s QBs were ruled ineligible for Week 12 due to COVID-19 protocols.

This year, the NFL — and Broncos — hope things will return to normal.
