
LAS VEGAS – MMA Junkie is on scene and reporting live from Saturday’s UFC 258 event, and you can join us for live play-by-play and official results beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET (4:30 p.m. PT).
The event takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.
In the main event, welterweight champion Kamaru Usman (17-1 MMA, 12-0 UFC) takes on challenger Gilbert Burns (19-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC). In the co-feature, Maycee Barber (8-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) meets Alexa Grasso (12-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) in a fight between women’s flyweight contenders.

Gabe Green vs. Phil Rowe
Round 1 – Rowe with a few early low kicks from range, but Green presses forward and answers with a few of his own while holding the center. Rowe shifting laterally on the outside and laces in a few straight punches. Green looking to return those, as well, but Rowe getting the best of the early exchanges. Rowe high kick blocked. Green moves inside and clinches and is able to gets an outside trip to the floor. However, Rowe laces a leg and postures up, hitting a beautiful sweep to top position. Green trying to scramble underneath, but Rowe is able to spin and maintain top position. Green tries to grab a leg, but Rowe spins through it and tries to switch to a triangle. Green scrambles up to the feet, and he locks in a standing arm-triangle for slamming it to the canvas. Rowe trapped briefly but is able to get free and stand, and they finish in the clinch. MMA Junkie gives the first to Rowe, 10-9.
Round 2 – Green comes out jabbing and then hits a low kick that sweeps Rowe to the canvas. Rowe scrambles up quickly, but Green is unleashing big punches. Aggression early from Green, but he lands low with a kick up the middle, and we take a break. Rowe takes a moment to collect himself, and we carry on. Green out quickly again on the restart, and he’s teeing off with punches. Straights and uppercuts land. Rowe has to slide out to get away from the aggression. Green goes to the body but lands clean to the cup again. Referee Mark Smith calls time again, and he issues a stern warning. Green again leaps forward with punches on the restart. Combinations landing. Rowe doing his best to swing back and launches a flying knee. Rowe clinches a bit and slows things down. They break, and Rowe lands a nice right hand. He doesn’t follow though. Green slowing a bit, but momentum is on his side. He lands a low kick, and then he follows with punches. Rowe wants a takedown, but it’s not there. Green with another low kick that sends Rowe to the canvas. Green follows, and again able to scramble to top in the final seconds. MMA Junkie gives the round to Green, 10-9.
Round 3 – Green lands a low kick early, and Rowe visibly limping. Green tries to follow with punches, but Rowe able to grab him and trip him to the canvas. Rowe wants to posture, but Green grabs the legs and creates a scramble. He wants to sweep, but Rowe is able to drive him back to the canvas and maintain top position. Green continues to look for options underneath. Rowe not doing a ton in terms of offense, but he’s keeping the dominant position as time winds down. Two minutes remain. Green desperate to get up, but Rowe advances to mount. Still, Green keeps moving and with a little less than 90 seconds, he gets up and separates. Green the aggressor here, and his corner tells him to attack the legs. He does, and another stiff kick sends Rowe to the canvas. Green goes to get on top, but Rowe able to sweep up to his feet. Less than 30 seconds. Rowe wants a takedown, but it’s not there. He dives again, but Green sprawls and punches the body. Back-and-forth final round, but MMA Junkie gives it Green, 10-9, and awards him the fight 29-28.

Andre Ewell vs. Chris Gutierrez
Round 1 – They engage quickly, and Gutierrez able to establish the center. He’s looking to press, but Ewell stomping at the legs a bit to keep his opponent away. Ewell light on his feet and thinks takedown, nearly ducking into a kick. Both men looking for options but not overcommitting. Ewell with a nice left hand that scores. Gutierrez launches into an Imanari roll but comes up short. Gutierrez the one pressing the action, but Ewell is letting his hands go a little more frequently. Ewell with a nice left hand to the body. Gutierrez looks comfortable as the hold the center, but he’s just not throwing often enough. He does leap forward with punches that miss, and they move into the clinch. Nothing there, so they break and reset. Again, it’s Ewell who’s a little quicker with the strike. Final seconds, and Gutierrez lands a high kick. Ewell is hurt, and Gutierrez swarms. Bell sounds, and Ewell staggers back to his corner. MMA Junkie gives it to Gutierrez, 10-9.
Round 2 – Gutierrez pressing out quickly and trying to see if Ewell is recovered. Ewell seems OK, and he’s again slipping shots and looking to counter. Ewell’s hands low, and he throws long punches. Gutierrez evading well and trying to move forward, though Ewell keeps him at bay with those low stomps to the leg. Gutierrez respectful of Ewell’s power and is cautious as he attacks. He chops the legs a bit. Gutierrez talking to his opponent a bit. Ewell responds with a few jabs and a side kick to the body. Ewell is moving well and throws a left to the body. Gutierrez walking forward but hasn’t been able to land a big shot. Into the final minute, and Ewell able to catch a kick and bring his opponent to the floor. Gutierrez tries to scrambles, and Ewell attacks the leg. Gutierrez can’t pull it free but ends the round there. MMA Junkie gives another close one to Ewell, 10-9.
Round 3 – Both men look fresh enough to start the third, but Gutierrez is first to land to the calf, and Ewell sees the leg buckle a bit. Gutierrez pressing and lands a spinning kick to the body. He misses one up top and Ewell waves it off. Gutierrez continues to chop the leg, and Ewell is hurt. Gutierrez scores with a big right hand. Ewell covering and trying to recover. That leg is compromised. Gutierrez with a high kick. Ewell in real trouble. Gutierrez trying for the finish, but Ewell clinches briefly. Gutierrez pulls away and gos back to work. Two minutes left, and Ewell lands a left hand, but he can’t follow with limited movement. Gutierrez fakes low and lands high with another kick. Ewell tough as nails and trying to swing back. He takes a look at the clock. Ewell’s leg compromised, but he wants to make it a fight. Gutierrez misses another spinning kick as time winds down. Gutierrez relentless with the low kicks. Ewell clinches and thinks late takedown, but Gutierrez switches him over as they fall, and he ends there. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Gutierrez, 10-9, and awards him the fight 29-28.

Mallory Martin vs. Polyana Viana
Round 1 – Martin quick to punch to the body. She’s pressing to start, but Viana kicks the legs and tries to create some space. Viana with a nick kick to the body. Martin catches a second kick and trips the action to the floor. Full guard for Viana. Martin drives the head into the chin as she postures from the top. Viana gets her legs up and transitions to a triangle in quick fashion. Martin trying to stack and stay compact. Viana slashing away with elbows and punches. She torques the arm for a moment but can’t get it extended. Martin still trapped but trying to get to safety. Viana rolls her over and still has the right arm secured. She goes to the armbar. Martin trying to push back up and get free, but Viana has the legs back in front of the face and torques again, and Martin has no choice but to tap.

Dhiego Lima vs. Belal Muhammad
Round 1 – Muhammad in the center and throws a few feints before punching his way into a takedown attempt. Lima able to dig inside and push him away. Muhammad high kick blocked. Muhammad fires a combination but pulls back and complains of an eyepoke. Referee Herb Dean steps in, but we carry on shortly after. Muhammad the aggressor on the restart. He’s trying to keep the action tight against a longer opponent. Kick to the body lands, and he adds a right hand behind it. Lima swinging back but not getting to use his range advantage. Lima kicks the lead leg. A second lands clean. Muhammad pressing the action and digs to the body. Lima returning fire, but Muhammad is slipping well and delivers a big left. Low kick continues to work for Lima. Muhammad changes levels again and presses inside, but Lima able to fend it off. Still, Muhammad keeping the pressure high. Big punches land upstairs and are following by nasty shots to the body as well. They end on the feet, and MMA Junkie gives it to Muhammad, 10-9.
Round 2 – Muhammad again trying to close the distance. Lima doing his best to throw straight punches and keep him away, but Muhammad able to navigate his way through it and cut off the cage. Muhammad with a kick to the body a combination of punches behind it. He’s really setting the pace. Muhammad tries again for a takedown, but it’s not there. Muhammad fakes the left and lands a big right over the top. Lima briefly stunned. Lima answers with another low kick, and that left leg for Muhammad is starting to redden and swell. Still, he’s pressing forward and throwing big punches. Straight left for Muhammad. He goes to the body, as well. Lima trying to cover and answer back, but Muhammad’s aggression is paying dividends. Lima landing a few jabs and low kicks, but Muhammad always there to follow up with power shots to the body and chin. Muhammad shoots again, and this time he wraps the body and tries to slip the back, but Lima does pull away and again target the lead leg. Lima’s work to the leg has been effective. Muhammad shoots inside again, and they finish in the clinch. MMA Junkie gives it again to Muhammad, 10-9.
Round 3 – Muhammad continues to press, but Lima ready and tags the legs before throwing a right hand. It’s effective, but Muhammad just presses through it. Muhammad catches another poke to the eye and is clearly angered. Still, he doesn’t take much of a break. Muhammad gets inside on a bodylock on the restart but can’t really capitalize, and Lima is able to get free. Still, Muhammad’s aggression pushes him quickly to the fence once again. Muhammad just fighting in a phone booth. He changes levels again. Lima up to the challenge and then lands a nice kick to the body. Lima’s nose is busted up and bleeding, and he’s fading a bit. Muhammad keeping the pressure high. Lima briefly loses his mouthpiece but replaces it with no stop in the action. His reward is taking more damage from Muhammad, who is absolutely relentless. Another takedown attempt is snuffed out from Lima. Still, his kick is blocked, and Muhammad is right back inside and finally able to life his opponent and slam him to the canvas. Lima scrambles up, but Muhammad is able to jump the back and wrap the figure-four around the body. Lima trying to shake him off, but Muhammad hangs on until the end. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Muhammad, 10-9, and awards him the fight 30-27.

Round 1 – Vieira rushes forward and punches his way into a single -leg attempt. Hernandez tries to defend, so Vieira switches to a double and lifts and slams his opponent to the floor. Hernandez trying to scramble, but Vieira gets to the back. Hernandez looking to roll, but Vieira settles into mount. He wants the arm-triangle, but Hernandez able to extract his arm. He ties to kick off the cage, but he can’e get free. Vieira rolls for an armbar. Tense moments, but Hernandez able to scramble free and to his feet. It doesn’t matter, as Vieira is right back inside on a takedown. He drags the fight down, and Hernandez works hard to get to his knees and then his feet, but he simply can’t get any space to work at all. Vieira does finally back away to reset, and Hernandez starts rifling off punches. He lands a few, and Vieira is desperate to get inside for a takedown. Hernandez sprawls again, and now it’s target practice. Big right hand scores for HernandezX. Uppercut scores. Vieira is hurt. He battles back to his feet, but he’s wobbly. Hernandez lands a big left. Right hand scores. Vieira shoots inside. His energy is zapped, and he’s hurt. Hernandez locks in a triangle at the end. He’s way off to the side, but they finish there. MMA Junkie gives a wild round to Hernandez, 10-9.
Round 2 – Hernandez aggressive on the feet. He wants to finish. But as he pursues, Vieira able to change levels and drag the fight to the floor. Hernandez turns, and Vieira jumps to the back, but he’s high. Hernandez tripods and shakes him off and makes sure to pull his arm free as he slips through. Hernandez trying to get back to his feet. Vieira grabbing the legs but can’t prevent the escape. Hernandez with a high kick followed by a left hand. Vieira showing a chin, but he’s getting devastated right now. Hernandez with a short elbow. Vieira clinches and is desperate for a takedown, but he’s really hurt. Hernandez defends and actually grabs a guillotine as he falls to his back. Squeeze is in, and Vieira is trapped and is forced to tap the canvas in a highly unexpected finish. Wow.

Julian Marquez vs. Maki Pitolo
Round 1 – Pitolo with an early low kick, then high kick, then they both start swinging. Pitolo moves inside and looks for the takedown, but Marquez is able to defend against the cage. Pitolo stays with it, and the aggression is rewarded, as he drags Marquez to the floor. Half-guard for Marquez, but he’s seated next to the cage and doesn’t have full range to move. Marquez scrambles to a knee and then tries to stand. Pitolo stays tight to him and presses the action to the fence. Marquez trying to turn and peel his opponent away, but Pitolo is keeping this bodylock. Marquez teases a hip toss but doesn’t quite get it. He then turns his attention to the neck, but he doesn’t really have control. Pitolo pulls his head free and continues pressing against the cage. Marquez separates and throws a few big shots at the close, but the bell sounds. MMA Junkie gives the round to Pitolo, 10-9.
Round 2 – Pitolo out quickly, and both men start swinging. Marquez wants to make something happen after a frustrating opening round. Marquez pressing and using a powerful jab. He lands a kick to the body, but it caught the cup a bit, as well, and Pitolo takes a break. He’s back quickly and looking to brawl. They’re both throwing bombs before Pitolo moves inside on a takedown and gets the fight to the floor on a second effort. Marquez to his knees and stands. Pitolo refusing to let go, trying to control, and he drags the action down again. Marquez again stands right back to his feet. Marquez sprawls on a takedown and grabs a guillotine. The squeeze is tight, and Pitolo has to spin to relive the pressure. It’s not easy, but he does it, and he settles on the canvas. Marquez now looks to control, but Pitolo turns and pops out the back door before settling into top position and stepping over to mount. He’s trying to set up an arm-triangle, but it’s not there. Pitolo peppers the body. Marquez trying to spin, but Pitolo threatens his neck, and he has to settle back to the floor. More punches to the body for Pitolo. Marquez with a few elbows from the bottom to close, but MMA Junkie gives it to Pitolo, 10-9.
Round 3 – Marquez comes out pumping the jab. Pitolo kicks the lead leg. They’re trading punches. Pitolo again with the low kick, and Marquez falls to a knee before standing back up. Pitolo circling right. Marquez kicks and moves into the clinch. Knee lands. Pitolo is hurt. He covers against the cage and then slips away. Marquez chases and grabs the neck. He wants the guillotine but slips off and falls to the canvas. Big break for Pitolo. He’s on top now and controlling. Marquez to a knee, but Pitolo is on his back and grabs the neck. He locks his hands for the rear-naked choke, but Marquez is able to turns and spin in a big sweep. Marquez now on the back. Pitolo tripods, but Marquez punching from the back. Pitolo turns inside. He tries to back away. They separate, but both men are exhausted. Pitolo thinks takedown but Marquez pushes him away and punches away and lands a knees. He wants the guillotine. Squeeze is in. Pitolo trying hard to spin away, but Marquez rolls with him. Odd angle, but he refuses to let go and adjusts to an anaconda with time winding down. He’s scooting the body to tighten it up. Finally, a battered and exhausted Pitolo taps. Comeback story to end the comeback story for Marquez. Wow.

Brian Kelleher vs. Ricky Simon
Round 1 – Simon out quickly, and they trade a few strikes before he drives forward and is able to bring the action to the canvas. Kelleher turns to his knees to try and rise but has to turn again when his neck is threatened. Kelleher already has some damage around his right eye, and he wipes at it as he works back to his feet. He turns inside and tries to grab a guillotine but slips off. Simon takes top position and sets up an arm-triangle. Kelleher has to press down to create space. Once he’s safe, Simon adjusts again to a new position. Constant chaining, but Kelleher able to scramble and get back to his feet with a little more than two minutes left. Blood streaming down from Kelleher’s eye, and Simon changes levels and drive through for another takedown. As Simon settles on top, he’s looking again for the arm-triangle, but Kelleher gets his arm out of the hold and then scrambles again to the feet. Less than a minute, and Simon shoots, but Kelleher teases the guillotine, and his opponent backs away. Simon with a few low kicks as they trade before the bell. MMA Junkie gives it to Simon, 10-8.
Round 2 – Simon lands an early right hand and then a stiff jab, as well. Kelleher looking to answer. Simon to the body. Kelleher with a crisp lead hook. Simon mixing in kciks, and he’s the aggressor. Simon catches a kick and drives the action to the canvas, but Kelleher turns to attack the leg and forces a scramble in defense and move to the feet. Kelleher lands a nice right hand as Simon moves forward. Corner calls for more of that. Simon pressing with punches. Back-and-forth on the feet, though it’s Simon with the greater volume, and he also changes levels and drives through for a takedown. Kelleher turns to a knee and then stands. Simon eventually backs away, and they reset before teeing off in the center. Leaping knee from Simon at the end before Kelleher accidentally catches him low with a kick at the end. MMA Junkie gives it to Simon, 10-9.
Round 3 – Both men still look fresh, but Kelleher needs to get something going. He misses a right and scores with a jab. Simon misses a few elbows and then scores with a slapping kick to the lead leg before moving into the clinch. He wants the takedown, but Kelleher defends against the fence. Simon happy to press in from the outside and keep things tight. He changes levels and wants the takedown, and Kelleher tries to snatch the guillotine but winds up losing it and settling on his back. Kelleher turns to his hips and has the kimura grip in place, trying to create something. Simon grabbing his own arm to prevent a submission attempt. Kelleher lets it go and scrambles to his feet. Kelleher again trying to control the neck, but Simon able to slip free and move around to the back. Kelleher working from his knees. He again grabs the kimura grip, but it’s not there. They separate with less than 30 seconds. Kelleher with a nice front kick. They end in the center. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Simon, 10-9, and awards him the fight 30-26.
