Washington to allow close family members into FedExField - NBCSports.com

For the first time this season, the Washington Football Team will be playing in front of fans at FedExField on Sunday.

In a letter to season ticket holders, the team announced that a limited number of close family members to coaches, players and employees will be in the stands for the matchup against the Rams. The letter noted that Washington players and staff made the request to have family members attend.

The limited number of family members must be "within the same household as a player, coach, or staff member." Attendees will be separated into socially distanced pods for seating throughout FedExField. Masks will be worn in the stands, and guidelines created by the CDC, NFL and Prince George's County must be followed at all times.

Washington's first two home games of the season included no fans in attendance, but there was hope that a change would come as the campaign continued. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan noted on the Washington Football Talk podcast that he was in favor of finding a safe way to get fans back in the seats.

"I'm in favor of safely trying to get some fans back in the stands," Hogan said. "Our health department is working very closely on that to try to work with the teams."

While the limit of fans allowed into FedExField is less than other teams around the league, it still brings a slight sense of normalcy back to a season that has been anything but that. Come Sunday, Washington players and staff will at least be able to hear their family cheering them on in person.
