In a back-and-forth battle that felt about as close as possible to a non-bubble NBA Finals contest, the Lakers made the big plays down the stretch to capture a 102-96 victory in Game 4 and take a commanding 3-1 series lead Tuesday night.
LeBron James (28 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists) and Anthony Davis (22 points, nine rebounds, four assists, four blocks) unsurprisingly played major roles in the win, but the contributions from role players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Rajon Rondo made the difference.
The Lakers were also locked in as a group defensively, holding the Heat to 42.7 percent shooting from the field and 34.4 percent from 3-point range. Jimmy Butler totaled 22 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, though his efficiency dropped dramatically from his terrific Game 3 performance. The returning Bam Adebayo had 15 points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes.
