When live football is next played in 2020, the games will count.
The NFL has agreed to the NFL Players Association's request to eliminate the entire 2020 preseason, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
NFLPA leadership told players on a conference call a few minutes ago there will be zero preseason games this year, sources say. Not a surprise given the league offered that but now all but official, according to the union.

Additionally, training camp rosters will be reduced to about 80 players, which is 10 short of the typical 90-man roster teams enter the season with.
The NFL Management Council Executive Committee has not yet signed off on the 80-man roster, per source. There was discussion on giving teams option of keeping 90 and dividing the roster -- i.e. keep 10 on standby -- but union told players it wanted all teams to follow one rule. https://t.co/3kXYqVTiUH

The decision to eliminate all exhibition contests in 2020 comes after the NFLPA voted unanimously earlier this month to cancel all preseason games, citing concerns of playing meaningless games amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Originally, the NFL had hoped to trim the preseason slate from four games to two.
Canceling the preseason is the latest important issue the league and its Players Association have agreed to over the past few days. On Monday, the two sides agreed to COVID-19 testing protocols, which includes daily testing for the first two weeks of training camp, which is set to begin in late July.
On Sunday, several NFL stars -- such as Patrick Mahomes, J.J. Watt, Myles Garrett and others -- voiced their concerns for starting training camp next week with several safety protocols still not in place. Those concerns were heard by the league, as the two sides have made significant progress over the past two days figuring out the proper steps to conduct a season as safely as possible.
