“When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” is the album of the year.
Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell took home the win for Album of the Year Sunday at the 2020 Grammys at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
“Can I just say I think Ariana Grande deserves this?” the 18-year-old said, adding that she didn’t want to “waste time.”
“We stand up here confused and grateful,” her 22-year-old brother added, noting that they didn’t prepare a speech.
Eilish also won Song and Record of the Year, as well as Best New Artist.
Earlier in the night, Eilish took the stage, accompanied by her brother on keys and backup vocals, for a performance of “When The Party’s Over” off her debut album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”
The sibling duo edged out Bon Iver, Lana Del Rey, Ariana Grande, H.E.R., Lil Nas X, Lizzo and Vampire Weekend in the Album of the Year category.
Only 18, the LA teen scored six Grammy nods (to Lizzo’s eight) with her debut album — and every track landed on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts all at once. In 2019, she performed on “SNL” and at Coachella and other festivals, and Justin Bieber appeared on her “Bad Guy” remix.
As for Grande, who blew Eilish kisses when she made the comment during her speech, the 26-year-old’s fifth album, “Thank U, Next,” was on Billboard’s Top 100 albums chart for most of the year, after hitting No. 1 in February.
