Kate Middleton Revealed Prince Louis's First Word and It Isn't What You Think - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

One of the reasons Prince William and Kate Middleton are so popular with royal fans is they frequently share tidbits of their personal lives with the public. Followers hold onto every word the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge share, especially when those fun anecdotes include details about their adorable children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The Cambridges recently did just that during a broadcast of a holiday special with beloved British chef Mary Berry. During the program, Kate Middleton revealed a few things about the kids, including Prince Louis’s first word. And it’s not at all what you’d expect.

Prince Louis is growing up so quickly

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s youngest son is growing up before our eyes. Earlier this year, Kate Middleton shared that the 18-month-old loved following her around everywhere. While visiting Peterley Manor Farms, she laughed as one little attendee kept trying to get her attention.

Tenderly stroking his cheek, the duchess said, “You remind me of my little Louis, he keeps saying “Me, me, me” and he wants to come everywhere with me.”

Mary Berry inspired Prince Louis’s first words

And little Prince Louis isn’t just walking — he’s also talking!

During the Christmas special, Kate Middleton explained that Mary Berry was actually the inspiration behind one of Prince Louis’s first words. While chatting with the television food personality, Middleton said Louis was fascinated with The Great British Bake Off judge Berry and even tried to say her name.

“One of Louis’s first words was his version of Mary,” Middleton said during the special. She explained that since Mary Berry’s cookbooks are at eye level in the kitchen, the young toddler gets to see her face all the time. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge kept explaining to him who she was, which is what inspired him to mimic them.

“And so one of his first words was Mary!” the duchess said, laughing.

The Cambridges spend a lot of time in the kitchen

Kate Middleton spoke at length about how much her family loves to cook. She told Berry they had recently prepared her pizza recipe and that all the children enjoy helping prepare meals.

“We grow our own vegetables,” Middleton told Berry. “We’ve got carrots, beans, beetroot — a massive favorite — Louis absolutely loves beetroot.”

Thanks to Louis’s beetroot obsession, Berry concocted a decadent chocolate cake made with beetroots in his honor. “I want to create a recipe with the young prince in mind,” the British baker explains.

And he’s not the only Cambridge who loves veggies.  “Charlotte obviously likes her Charlotte potatoes,” Middleton told Berry.

Even Kate Middleton loves baking

While she could certainly employ people to prepare baked goods for her or purchase the fanciest treats from the bakery, Middleton told Berry she loves making her children’s birthday cakes by herself.

“I love making the cake,” Duchess Kate said during the special. “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.”
