NXT returns with another massive edition of its special event series on Sunday night when NXT TakeOver: 31 takes place inside the WWE Performance Center in what is now being termed the Capitol Wrestling Center. The five-match card features four title bouts, including Kyle O'Reilly challenging Finn Balor for the NXT championship and Candice LeRae stepping up to battle Io Shirai for the NXT women's title.
Balor won the then-vacant title back on Sept. 8, defeating Adam Cole after an injured Karrion Kross was forced to relinquish the championship after suffering a shoulder injury. O'Reilly secured his title shot in a gauntlet eliminator match on Sept. 23. On that same show, LeRae won a battle royal to become No. 1 contender for the women's championship and will now face Shirai at TakeOver 31 for the title.
