On April 13, The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart introduced fans to a batch of contestants who were new to the franchise, but not necessarily to reality TV. In the premiere, viewers met Trevor Holmes, who previously appeared on American Idol. The musician was also caught up in a love triangle with Jamie Gabrielle and Ryan Neal. But aside from those tidbits, fans don’t know much else about the 29-year-old from California.

So who is Trevor from The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart? The reality star may or may not come out of the show with a new girlfriend. But at least Trevor’s Instagram feed confirms he has one special lady in his life — his dog.

According to Trevor’s Bachelor profile, the musician’s sound is country-pop. He picked up his first guitar when he was 13-years-old. And now, he plays and writes music in LA after working his day job.

Meanwhile, Trevor also made it through to the Top 25 on American Idol in 2018. As you may know, he is the man who Katy Perry hit on during his audition. Then he made his way to The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart as a fan of the franchise. 

“I’m not gonna lie and pretend that I’ve been an avid viewer [but] I definitely have seen the show,” Trevor told Entertainment Tonight in April 2020. “I saw a lot of Ben [Higgins’] season and stuff like that. Anytime that I’ve watched, I’ve found myself hooked.”

That said, Trevor never applied for the show before Listen to Your Heart because he didn’t want people to think he went on for the “wrong reasons.” 

“I’ve had several people in my life suggest, ‘Hey, why don’t you try and go on The Bachelor?’ … I didn’t want to want to go on and people think, ‘Oh, this guy is trying to promote his music career,’” Trevor said. “So I decided it wasn’t a good decision for me.”

He added: “I didn’t want people to think I’m just on there to promote my career, so then when this opportunity came along to experience love and do music, it just seemed like a no brainer for me.”

Still speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Trevor was asked to choose between love and music. “I have to go with love, because I feel that love is what makes life worth living,” he said. The reality star also claimed his goal for The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart is to “find my person and have a family.”

As mentioned, Trevor has been involved in a love triangle of sorts with Jamie and Ryan. But in the end, Jamie chose Trevor. The second week also hinted more drama, as Trevor admitted to emotionally cheating on his ex-girlfriend after being confronted by Natascha Bessez. That said, Jamie and Trevor chose to continue exploring the relationship. So fans will have to see how this one plays out.

But whether or not Trevor’s Listen to Your Heart journey ends with true love or fans receive Jed Wyatt 2.0, it appears the 29-year-old already has one great love — his golden retriever, Koda. In the reality star’s intro video on April 13, viewers were introduced to Trevor’s dog.

“I’m looking for someone who’s loyal, someone who likes to go out on walks and go outside,” Trevor joked while holding Koda. 

Then one glance at Trevor’s Instagram page will tell you just how far the love for his pup goes, as photos of Koda are splashed throughout the feed. The pop-country singer also posted a reunion video with his dog on Feb. 14, which coincidentally lines up with the Listen to Your Heart finale taping on Feb. 12. 

“Feeling emotional seeing my dog and my mom for the first time in 3 weeks,” Trevor wrote on Instagram. “When you’re away from the ones you love it really puts life into perspective. There’s nothing like home.”
