Royal Family 'corrected' after embarrassing blunder in birthday wish for Prince Louis - Express

Louis’ big day was marked with the release of a set of adorable photos taken by the Duchess of Cambridge. The toddler can be seen posing playfully with his palms painted in the colours of the rainbow – a nod to NHS workers on the frontlines of the battle against coronavirus. In a tweet, the Royal Family called little Louis the Queen’s seventh great-grandchild, while he is, in fact, her sixth.

Louis was born on April 23, 2018 – two months before the Queen’s seventh great-grandchild Lena Tindall.

The Royal Family’s message read: “Happy Birthday to Prince Louis.

“HRH is the Queen’s seventh great-grandchild. Today he turns two!”

The post was accompanied by the heartwarming snaps Kate, 38, took of her youngest child to mark his milestone.

Another said: “Yes! That's what I was saying. But only for almost two months. Lena was born on June 18.”

The monarch, who celebrated her 94th birthday on Tuesday, has eight great-grandchildren in total.

The oldest is Savannah Phillips, nine, the daughter of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly and the grand-daughter of the Princess Royal.

Then comes her younger sister Isla Phillips, eight, Prince George, six, Mia Tindall, six, and four-year-old Princess Charlotte.

Louis comes in at number six ahead of Lena Tindall at seven and Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor at eight.

The Prince of Wales released a touching photograph of himself hugging Louis to mark his young grandson's birthday.

In the black and white image Charles, 71, is facing the camera, while Louis wraps his little arms around his grandfather's neck.

The picture, taken by the Duchess of Cambridge, was posted on the prince's official Twitter account with the message: "A very Happy Birthday to Prince Louis, who turns two today."

A birthday cake emoji is featured along with the words: "The young Prince enjoys a hug from his Grandfather, The Prince of Wales."

In the official birthday snaps taken by Kate, Louis joined the nationwide trend to applaud healthcare workers.

Children across the UK have been creating rainbow pictures as a symbol of hope during the lockdown to put in their windows.

Louis looks like he is growing up fast in the pictures, with his hair neatly cut and combed and wearing a smart blue gingham-style shirt.

Many royal fans pointed out his striking resemblance to his mum and his older brother George.
