'The Masked Singer' premiere: The Robot shorts out first in Season 3 - USA TODAY

Ready for more masks?

"The Masked Singer" returned for its third season on Fox Sunday, following a different contest between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl.

Jamie Foxx joined panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke as a guest judge for the premiere.

Foxx said even people close to him suspected he had participated in Season 2 of "Masked Singer."

“My mom, she comes in my room,   says, ‘I need you to wake up. … I need information. I got $200 on you,’ ” he said.

Sunday's premiere introduced six of this season's expanded field of 18 crooners – up from 16 last season – who are in it to win it.  Here's how they did:

'The Masked Dancer,' Fox's 'Masked Singer' spinoff, is in the works with Ellen DeGeneres

'The Masked Singer' finale recap: Fox hightails it to the top, is revealed to be …

White Tiger

Clues: "Ready to meet your next champion?" the competitor asked in his clue package. "My entire life I’ve sought out perfection. So, choosing a mask with unlimited power like the white tiger was a no-brainer."

White Tiger also boasted of his "giant career full of accomplishments," but admitted he was intimidated by the thought of singing onstage. A trophy in the shape of a clam, the date 5/3, and a poster bearing Abraham Lincoln's image and the beginning of The Gettysburg Address were also seen.

Guesses: After hearing White Tiger's version of Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby," Jeong guessed John Cena was inside the suit, while Foxx thought of former NFL stars Rob Gronkowski or Michael Strahan. Scherzinger believed the contestant was actor  Jason Momoa.

Digging into the guesses, it seems Jeong may not be far off. The Lincoln poster could indicate the contestant is a wrestler: So was the former president.

Turtle

Clues: It seems Turtle's career started slowly. "At the starting line of my career, I was surrounded by other hungry newcomers," he said in his clue package. "It felt like everyone around me was fighting tooth and nail for the dream. and I watched as many of those stars burned too brightly and too quickly and then fizzled out.”

The reptile hopes to make a "big splash" on the singing competition, which wasn't the only reference to water. Turtle held a surfboard and tended to burgers on the grill.

“Kiss From a Rose” by Seal, a contestant from Season 2, showcased Turtle's talents.

Guesses: The panel focused on Zac Efron (Scherzinger) and boy-band members. Thicke predicted Joey McIntyre, while Jeong set his sights on Donnie Wahlberg, McIntyre's New Kids on the Block bandmate and McCarthy's husband.

Adrienne Bailon kept 'Masked Singer' a secret from her 'The Real' co-hosts

'The Masked Singer' Season 2: All the reasons we think we've identified the final three contestants

Llama

Clues: The star was as a DJ for 23.3 The Wool during his package, greeting his audience with “Good morning, nerd herd.”

“I’m here for one reason only – to have a laugh, and what’s funnier than a llama?" he said.

A pair of cards – an Ace of spades and Jack of spades, a winning hand in blackjack – was shown, along with a record with the words "Sounds of Seattle."

Guesses: Scherzinger thought it could be comedian David Spade under the mask, while Jeong and Thicke were in sync, guessing actor Joel McHale.

Miss Monster

Clues: Miss Monster has an agenda. "When you become famous, people want you to look or act a certain way," she said. "They forget that you started off as just a shy little monster. It didn’t take long for me to be misunderstood. So, I’m here to set the record straight.”

But she admitted to feeling anxious. “Darlin’ I feel nervous," she said. "Will you still love me without knowing my name?”

Visual clues include a can of furspray (a play on hairspray), a key that read “fun” and the number 10.

Guesses: After witnessing Miss Monster's rendition of "Something To Talk About" by Bonnie Raitt, the panel predicted well-known artists lay beneath the fur: Dolly Parton (Jeong), Mary J. Blige (McCarthy) and Dionne Warwick (Scherzinger).

Robot

Clues: This contestant has something in common with his costume. “I relate to robots because I’ve always felt the need to put on a tough outer shell," he said. "I think that makes me come across as inhuman, and it stunted my potential.

"I've had my fair share of fame in certain circles, but I'm here to tip the scales and show that I can be relatable to everyone,” he added.

Perhaps this contestant has been through some trauma: The clue package shows  a skateboardcolliding with a fire truck,

Guesses: For McCarthy, Robot's spin on Lenny Kravitz's "Are You Gonna Go My Way" called to mind Johnny Knoxville. Foxx suspected "Jackass" prankster Steve-O, and Scherzinger thought of boxer Floyd Mayweather.

Kangaroo

Clues: Kangaroo described herself as “a survivor,” as a sign for The Outback is displayed with a horseshoe substituted for the letter U. “I recently lost a person who held my family’s heart together," Kangaroo added. "Then, by my own admission, I found myself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.”

Paparazzi hounded the contestant, who vowed: “I have to fight for my family and show them that bullies never win.” She also jumped rope with what appeared to be ivy.

Guesses: A beautiful rendition of Robyn's "Dancing On My Own" inspired McCarthy to think of Jordin Sparks, while Scherzinger figured Kelly Rowland and Thicke guessed Iggy Azalea.

The elimination

Robot called the experience “the most fun I’ve ever had" in his career, but he was the first to be eliminated this season..

Final guesses from the panel – Floyd Mayweather (Scherzinger), Johnny Knoxville (McCarthy), Steve-O (Foxx), Shaun White (Thicke) and Flavor Flav (Jeong) were all incorrect.

After Lil Wayne was revealed to be Robot, the panel lost their minds.

“No way!” said Foxx

“This is the most shocked I’ve ever been on this show,” said Thicke.

"The Masked Singer" resumes Wednesday in its normal time slot (8 EST/PST).
