Shows like "America's Got Talent," "Saturday Night Live" and late-night talk shows may be on hiatus, but "The Masked Singer" continues to air. Wednesday's episode was actually recorded in January. So, the remaining performers from Group C competed for a spot in their group championships, which will air next week without interruption.

But there was a slightly odd moment at the top of the show, when host Nick Cannon alluded to the now-canceled March Madness.

"Welcome to the most athletic singing competition that March has ever seen. The NCAA has nothing on us," Cannon said.

Joel McHale returned as a guest panelist joining the show's regulars – Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke – for the night's throw-down. Next week, four contestants will be cut to three and the "Super 9" (made of the top three challengers in Groups A, B and C) will be solidified.

Astronaut

Clues: The Astronaut talked about overcoming trying times in his clue package, where he recalled being "isolated and so very lonely." He also may have referenced a Disney connection, mentioning the "circle of life" and a "new world." Before Astronaut sang "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" by his "dear friend" Stevie Wonder, the package also highlighted a French horn and showed a flag that pictured a constellation identified by McHale as Orion's Belt. The contestant provided a yearbook quote as an additional clue. "Well, we can all reach the stars," he said. "Sometimes, it just takes a little help from someone from an organized-crime family."

Guesses: Jeong believed it could be his former "Community" co-star Donald Glover, but McHale, also from "Community," disagreed. He suspected Corey Feldman, while  Thicke envisioned Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Night Angel

Clues: Night Angel has also risen over adversity. She shared that being on her own felt frightening "'cause I felt rejection for the first time." But her story has a happy ending. "I hustled and, with hard work and commitment, built an empire," she said. A castle and a strawberry were also shown on the side of a brick building.

Following a powerful performance of Lady Gaga's "Million Reasons," Night Angel gave her quote. "If you're willing to lend a helping wing, then you, too, can break (barriers)," she said.

Guesses: McCarthy thought of Oscar winner Regina King, while McHale pictured Jessica Simpson. Scherzinger thought of "Empire" actress Taraji P. Henson.

T-Rex

Clues: Speaking of an Earth-shattering event, the challenger said, "I didn't want my career to go downhill fast. My heart was beating like a bumble bee.

"To survive, I had to diversify," she added. "No one wants to be a one-hit wonder." There's also some sort of significance to a bright pink globe with a party hat on it.

Following her performance of Salt-N-Pepa's "Push It," T-Rex divulged her yearbook quote. "If you dream big, your face can be everywhere, and you'll never go extinct, unless a meteor hits," she said.

Guesses: Jeong thought of YouTube star-turned-late night host Lilly Singh. Thicke predicted actress/host Liza Koshy and McHale went with Olympic skier Mikaela Shiffrin.

Swan

Clues: Swan compared her time on "The Masked Singer" to having "fallen down a rabbit hole into the most amazing wonderland. See, here's the tea: I know my life seems all new moons and rainbows, but I came from nothing."

Speaking of tea, this particular tea party also had a blender on the table. The package also highlighted a small dolphin sculpture with a tag that read "Made in Japan."

After singing "I Hate Myself for Loving You" by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Swan shared her yearbook quote. "I've been the black swan, and against all odds, I've been able to spread my wings for millions to see," she said. "Life is truly magical."

Guesses: That clue made McHale think of "Black Swan" actress Mila Kunis, while McCarthy thought the package fit "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart. Jeong guessed actress Kristen Bell.

Rhino

Clues: Rhino, who described himself as a consistent "risk-taker," appeared in the package on the wings of a plane, and then later holding a sign that read "South." Rhino also professed his love for his wife, his "guardian angel."

"She taught me balance, gave me stability so I could defy gravity," he said. "She saved my life, and inspired me to pursue other passions and take on new risks."

Rhino impressed with his rendition of "Nice To Meet Ya" by Niall Horan. Then he gave his yearbook quote. "Family is very important for success, especially when performing for a king is in your blood," he said.

Guesses: Thicke believed it was former football player Tim Tebow, while Jeong envisioned actor Chris Pratt. Scherzinger went with Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte.

The elimination

This week, we had to say "So long!" to Swan.

Before the star removed her bejeweled mask, the panel offered their final guesses. Thicke went with "Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev, while Jeong suggested actress Olivia Munn lay beneath the feathers. Scherzinger suspected actress Megan Fox. McHale and McCarthy doubled down on their previous guesses of Kunis and Stewart, respectively.

Swan was actually revealed to be actress Bella Thorne, Jeong's co-star in "The Duff."

The 22-year-old admitted the experience was challenging.

"Getting in front of people really gets me super nervous," Thorne said. "So, this was really out of my comfort zone."
